Sullivan County Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. supplies power to over 6,000 meters across 900+ miles of electric distribution line and infrastructure throughout its service territory in Bradford, Sullivan, and Lycoming counties. The co-op has 19 employees and is overseen by a board of nine directors.

Informational Interview

Description: Students will be able to get a one-on-one interview experience which will help them as they begin applying for future jobs and careers. They will also gain knowledge in their field of their choice. They should come prepared with a cover letter and resume (which can be critiqued and offered suggestions to) and well dressed, as they would for a legitimate interview.

Mock Interview

Description: Students will be able to get a one-on-one interview experience which will help them as they begin applying for future jobs and careers. Guest Speaker

Description: Students will be able to ask questions about the particular field being presented--schooling/training required, salary/wages, overtime/on-call demands, etc. Equipment used in the field (particularly for lineworkers and construction) can be presented.

Industry Tour

Description: Students can get a hands-on opportunity to see equipment used in the electric distribution field and some of the routine tasks performed by lineworkers. They will also be able to ask people employed in this career one-on-one questions and see some of the terrain and work environments they face daily.

Teacher in the Workplace

Description: Teachers/leaders/coaches would be able to come see what daily tasks are actually faced by our departments and how they can better educate students for real-life experiences. On-site visits would be accepted as well as video meetings, calls, emails, etc.

Volunteer Opportunity

Description: Students may volunteer to help our co-op perform duties throughout the community. It would be a good opportunity to connect with members of the co-op who live in the area, while getting some career knowledge.

Job Shadow

Description: Students will be able to ride in a bucket/digger truck, get out into the field and see routine tasks and maintenance performed by our line crews, and experience what a typical day is like for a lineworker. They should come prepared dressed in weather-appropriate clothing and bring a lunch.

Career Mentoring

Description: Students would be able to rely on this person (depending on what specific field/career/job they are interested in) for postsecondary guidance, contact names for leaders in the industry, connections, general information and answers, motivation and encouragement, and anything else the student may need to grow in their interests.
